Every year, the west Bohemian spa town of Karlovy Vary hosts the world-famous Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. This year the festival is being held for the 37th time, opening on July 4 and running until July 13. Over those ten days, visitors will be able to enjoy some 300 films from around the world, some of which will be presented by the film-makers themselves. Among the special guests this year are the actors Sean Connery and Michael York, director John Boorman and others.

Besides a wide selection of films, visitors will be able to attend a host of accompanying events, including seminars, discussions and cultural events. The festival traditionally ends with a prize-awarding ceremony. Radio Prague will be bringing you regular reports from the festival and also take you to the final gala to find out who wins the Crystal Globe for the best feature film and awards for the best director, best actress, best actor and the best documentary.
